Hola from Mexico!

Good morning eveyone! I am writing to you from the restaurant at the resort we are at, overlooking the ocean. The view is spectacular! We just saw a school of fish jumping in the waters below. How cool is that?

I'm definitely going to be posting and writing more soon. Nem and Mike's wedding is tomorrow, and everyone is super-excited. Last night we had dancing lessons, which were awesome (I didn't know we had so many good dancers in the group!).

So, here are a few pictures from the first day. More to come. I think I've taken about 1,200 so far, and we haven't even had the wedding yet!

This is Tori and Brendan at the airport. I think Nem said something funny and helped create this candid moment. We are shooting their wedding next year which is so cool because we are going to do their engagement session here in Mexico - what a great idea!



Here is a view from the plane. The clouds are just at the top of the mountains. Isn't it a stunning view?



When I woke up on the first day I opened the balcony door and saw this little guy. There are wild dogs all over the place and as soon as I went on the balcony he came running over to see if I had any treats for him. Which I didn't. I did notice a piece of half eaten pizza on the ground though - and as I was trying to figure out a way to get him to it, one of the grounds keepers called the dog over and showed him the pizza. Breakfast is served. Mani (Sarah's boyfriend and my new roommate/photo assistant - I'll explain that later) and I have decided to name the dog 'Macho'. How manly of us.

Okay, time to go do some dancing lessons. I will post more later. Especially the dancing ones... Nem is really good at it!

Looking back...Adell & Oleh

Amanda asked me to post something she wrote. She was working on the computer in the other room and emailed me what you see below. I love how Amanda sees things. It always strikes me at how well she listens, and how kind and pure her heart is. Amanda knows what really matters - family, friends and time spent with them. When I read what she wrote I was moved. I hope you will be too.

I was looking back at some of our fall weddings and I couldn't help thinking about Adell and Oleh. One of my favourite parts of weddings is being there for the speeches. I love it when a quiet couple like Adell and Oleh get up and speak from the heart. Their speeches were so great that I still remember what they said a month later.

Oleh took the time to tell the people in his life what he has learned from them. How many of us can say we've done that? He told his father he taught him that "strength comes from within" and "everyone has something to say". His mother taught him to "use his emotions to express himself". He talked about his many friends, including Nestor teaching him "you just gotta look good", but my favourite part was when he said Adell "taught him about love".

Adell quoted something that Oleh once said to her and I just loved it. He said "We're not perfect, but we're perfect together". She spoke about how Oleh's family has welcomed her into theirs, which was especially touching because her parents are no longer with her.

This was our first Ukranian wedding and we learned so much about their culture. It's really an honour to spend time with all of our couples, getting to know them, their families and friends, and learning about their lives. Adell and Oleh- thanks for choosing us to be a part of it. I know your wedding is one we won't forget.

Kim & Chris

We had a fantastic engagement session with Kim and Chris up in Burlington. There is this redeveloped section of the waterfront that the city has done a great job with and it was a perfect spot. Lots of cool places for photos! Kim and Chris were great as we walked around and a couple of times I felt as if I were to walk away they wouldn't have noticed. Ahhh....young love!

After the park we headed down to the restaurant/bar that they first met, had a quick lunch (I had the "beef au jus" - yum!) and afterwards got some more awesome shots. I can't wait for the wedding. It's going to be so much fun!

Seriously - could they be any more in love?




This was fun. The inside of this building had all kinds of information on the waterfront, wind patterns, boats etc. It even had a mini-cyclone-tornado thing you could touch. Very cool place. It was really great because of all the windows letting in the great light, and the ceiling and windows worked together with their interesting patterns. Of course, none of it compared with Kim and Chris!



Off to the restaurant! Genuine British fare!

Sabrina & Joe

Sabrina and Joe - what an amazing couple! These two know how to put on a wedding. We often tell couples that meet with us that it is the 'little touches' that make the wedding. These are often the more thoughtful moments and details that make your wedding distinct and unique - and Sabrina and Joe had definitely thought about the 'little touches'. They each sent each other little notes and presents to open before the wedding, the front of Sabrina's house was decorated for the photos with flowers and ribbons, and when they finished their kiss and were announced as husband and wife the organ piped in with hockey theme music! (Joe is a big hockey fan!) Too cool!

From the Church we headed over to the Niagara Fallsview Casino for the formals. It was busy with tourists and gamblers but we found some really great spots including a giant fountain, glass atrium, a crowded shopping hallway, and ended up down by the Casino's Wedding Chapel where Joe and the guys posed in some very interesting ways...(I think Joe had a little too much coffee by this point!).

The reception was held at Club Roma (who always do an amazing job!) where all 400 of Sabrina and Joe's guest were arriving for the party. There were some really heartfelt speeches, especially Joe's mom and sister and the MC's kept things entertaining throughout the night. I have to say that in all the weddings we have done this season, Joe's wins the award for 'Most thought out and thorough' speech of the year. He definitely didn't forget anyone...if you were there you know what I mean. He even thanked and mentioned our website (which was awesome, thanks Joe!). I think he might be hoping for a portion of any sales though :)

Okay - this is one of my favourites! This is the shopping annex at the casino which has these bench/tree things in the centre. I love the sense of movement around them. It was funny, people would look at them, and then quickly look away. It was as if they felt they were intruding on their private moment. Made for a great image though!

I have no idea how Sabrina did this. I've never seen a squirrel come up to someone before like this (and I even tried to catch one as a pet when I was 10!) We think she must be some kind of squirrel whisperer or something.



We got so lucky with these. The rain had stopped and Amanda remembered that Sabrina was hoping for some fall colour shots. After jumping out of the limo these are what we got.
